Follo ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Follo mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.

Information We Collect

Location Data

Follo collects precise location data from your device, including:

• GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
• Speed of movement
• Timestamp of each location update
• Device battery level

This data is collected both when the app is in the foreground and background, as this is essential to the core functionality of sharing your location with your connections.

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Authentication data from Google or Apple Sign-In (email address, name, profile photo)
• Username you choose within the app

Device Information

We collect device information including:

• Device model
• Operating system and version
• App version
• Unique device identifier (generated locally)

How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data for the following purposes:

• Core Service: To share your location with your connections (friends you've mutually connected with) and public followers (if you enable public sharing)
• Location History: To maintain a history of your locations for your personal reference
• Service Operation: To operate and maintain the app
• Authentication: To verify your identity and manage your account

Data Sharing

With Your Connections

Your current location, speed, and battery level are shared with users you have mutually connected with (Connections). This sharing is always active while you use the app.

With Public Followers

If you enable "Allow Public Followers", your location (without speed or battery) is visible to users who follow you by your username. You can disable this at any time.

We Do NOT:

• Sell your personal data to third parties
• Share your location with advertisers
• Use your location for targeted advertising
• Share your data with anyone other than your chosen connections and followers

Data Storage

Your data is stored using Firebase Realtime Database, a service provided by Google. Data is stored on servers in the United States. Your location history is stored indefinitely unless you delete your account.

Data Security

We implement security measures including:

• Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
• Firebase Security Rules to restrict data access
• Authentication required for all data access

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Delete your account and associated data
• Revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings
• Disconnect from any connection
• Disable public sharing at any time

Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Your location history is stored indefinitely to provide you with historical data. When you delete your account, we will delete all your personal data within 60 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal purposes.

International Data Transfers

Your data is processed and stored in the United States through Firebase (Google). By using Follo, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States.

For European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

• Right to Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Right to Restrict Processing: Request limitation of how we use your data
• Right to Data Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
• Right to Object: Object to processing of your data

Our legal basis for processing your location data is your consent, which you provide when granting location permissions. You can withdraw consent at any time by revoking location permissions in your device settings.

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with specific rights:

• Right to Know: Request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected

• Right to Opt-Out: We do not sell personal information, so this right does not apply
• Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will promptly delete such information.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
